Field Testing – Vo2 & Lactate

Vo2 Testing

Field Testing Vo2Fitness can be measured by the volume of oxygen you can consume while exercising at your maximum capacity. VO2max is the maximum amount of oxygen in millilitres, one can use in one minute per kilogram of body weight. ERunning utilizes specific field testing protocols for gauging and predicting Vo2 Max. Whilst not 100% accurate, Vo2 field testing provides a cost effective option for athletes looking to set benchmarks from which to base training levels from and test and measure current fitness and capacity scores.

Field testing is normally completed on a 400m running track, but can be completed on straight stretch of path or road. ERunning has specific field testing protocols (VDOT Test, Conconi Method, The 3,200-meter time trial and the 30-minute exam), can all be used for measurement and prescription and this service is available to both athletes working within the ERunning framework and athletes looking to have ERunning implement, test and review results independently.

Lactate Testing

Blood Lactate Field TestingERunning offers lactate testing for runners looking to measure and prescribe for performance. Simply, your lactate threshold is defined as the maximum steady state effort that can be maintained without lactate continually increasing. There are other more complex explanations, but in the interest of keeping explanations simple, this is best.

ERunning Coaches have access to lactate testing measurement equipment and can perform lactate testing in a field testing capacity on request. Using specific sessions we have the ability to assess and prescribe lactate ranges based off the test results. Preference is for athletes to utilize our recommended lab based services to accurately assess your lactate, but we certainly offer it in a field testing capacity.
